고려대 이재승 교수, EU ‘장 모네 석좌교수’ 선정
고려대학교 국제학부 이재승 교수(사진)가 유럽연합(EU)이 수여하는 장 모네 석좌교수(Jean Monnet Chair)로 선정되었다. 장 모네 석좌교수는 유럽 연구에 뛰어난 업적을 보인 전 세계 학자들을 대상으로 선정되며, 유럽통합의 선구자로 불리는 장 모네 초대 유럽석탄철강공동체(ECSC) 의장을 기념하여 유럽연합이 수여한다. 이재승 교수는 향후 장 모네 석좌교수로서 ‘유럽연합과 동아시아 평화 구축’을 주제로 강의와 연구를 수행하며, 학술 및 정책 분야에서 관련 행사를 개최할 예정이다.
이재승 교수는 고려대 노르딕-베네룩스 센터 소장과 유럽정치연구회 회장을 역임했으며, 2008년 전직 국가 정상들의 모임인 ‘인터액션 카운슬(InterAction Council)’에서 차세대 지도자로 선정된 바 있다.
Professor Jae-Seung Lee awarded a Jean Monnet Chair
Professor Jae-Seung Lee at Division of International Studies, Korea University, was awarded a Jean Monnet Chair by the European Union. Jean Monnet Chairs are chosen among scholars showing outstanding achievement in European studies and granted by the European Union in commemoration of Jean Monnet, a pioneer of European integration. Professor Lee will conduct lectures and research on ‘European Union and Peace-Building in East Asia’ and organize international events.
Professor Lee currently serves as Director of Nordic-Benelux Center at Korea University and President of Korean Association of European Political Studies. He was selected as ‘Young Leader’ by the InterAction Council, an association of former head of states, in 2008.
